The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is a reliable and valid system to assign a movement-based diagnosis and treat neck pain based on the clinical response to patient- and clinician-generated procedures. This method involves the assessment of symptomatic and mechanical baselines before, during, and after repeated end-range movement testing to classify patients into treatment subgroups. Repeated end-range movement testing, typically initiated with sagittal plane movements and exploring frontal and transverse plane movements as needed, may determine Directional Preference (DP). DP treatment has been shown to lead to favorable outcomes in those with heterogeneous neck pain. Although movement-based diagnoses based on DP are described for lumbar spinal conditions, DP is not referenced in the Cervical Spine Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). The Cervical Flexion Rotation Test, a clinical test promoted by the CPG in diagnosis of those with cervicogenic headache, is a useful clinical baseline in the repeated movements testing process in identifying those with rotation DP of the cervical spine. 1CCU At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to: Speaker(s) Schedule Additional Locations N/A Registration Fees $5 - Student $10 - TPTA Member $20 - Non Member Registration Registration closes on 5/7.
