Continuing Competence Rules & Ethics Requirements
The Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) administers the Continuing Competence Approval Program on behalf of the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (TBPTE). Continuing competence activities must meet the criteria set by the TBPTE.

Per TBPTE Rule §341.3, ethics courses must include the following components:
- The theoretical basis for ethical decision-making
- APTA's Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct
- Legal standards of behavior (including but not limited to practice acts and rules)
- Hypothetical case scenarios
Licensees are required to complete a minimum of 2 CCUs of approved ethics/professional responsibility CC activities. The ethics contact hours may be a component of a larger course and a licensee may submit more than 2 CCUs in ethics/professional responsibility for renewal purposes.
