Welcome to the Home page of the Texas Students Physical Therapy Association a Special Interest Group of the TPTA.

What is TSPTA?

It is the student voice of the TPTA by communicating through a liaison network. The TSPTA notifies TPTA student members of current events affecting PT and PTA students. The goal is to                                                                                          create an informed student body which will actively participate in the decision making process

                                                                                   of the TPTA.

Cambria Carson - President

Hello! My name is Cambria Carson, and I am a second-year DPT student at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Last year, I served as the TSPTA Vice President, and I am now the current TSPTA President. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2015 with a bachelor's in Kinesiology Motor Behavior and will be graduating from my PT program in December 2018. Whoop! I absolutely love doing anything and everything involving traveling and the outdoors. In the future, I hope to make an impact on every one of my patients, encouraging and motivating them to live their lives to the fullest potential. I am so honored to be in this position representing my peers and working to improve the future of this profession.

Cord DeMoss - Vice President

I attended the University of Oklahoma for undergraduate with a degree in Medical Sciences and a minor in Health and Exercise Sciences. I was a member of the Men's Lacrosse team for the University of Oklahoma, and am interested in working in orthopedics and potentially specializing in sports physical therapy. I married my beautiful wife Rachel in 2016, and we thoroughly enjoy traveling and have been fortunate enough to explore a few bucket list locations during our first year of marriage. I currently serve as Co-Class President for the DPT class of 2019, and look forward to assisting with educating legislators in our field.

Amanda Scampini - Secretary

Hello everyone! My name is Amanda Scampini and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. I am originally from California and completed my bachelor's in Neuroscience at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2015. I hope to work in a variety of settings as a physical therapist with particular interest in sport and neurologic physical therapy. I am incredibly honored and excited to serve and represent PT and PTA students across Texas as the TSPTA Secretary!

Meagan McCluskey - Treasurer

Hello! My name is Meagan McCluskey and I'm currently a second year PT student at UT Southwestern. I graduated from UT Dallas in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a neurologic residency program to receive expert mentorship and further my knowledge of treatment of neurologic diagnoses in order to better serve my patients. I am honored to serve as representative for Texas students as well as have the opportunity to be an advocate for our future patients and profession.

Joshua Hill - PT Delegate

Hello, my name is Joshua Hill and I am currently a first year DPT student at Texas State University. I served as a combat medic in the Army before I went to Belmont University to earn my Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science while coaching and personal training. I fell in love with physical therapy while training for my first marathon and I am now prepping for my second, the Austin marathon. I am married to the smart and beautiful Katie Hill and am the father of two large and rambunctious dogs named Lucy and Leo. I am so excited to hear my fellow DPT students' perspectives on the direction the physical therapy field can go so that I can represent Texas DPT students well as their new TSPTA PT Delegate.

Shelby Nail - PTA Delegate

Hi there! My name is Shelby Nail and I am an SPTA at South Plains College located in Levelland, TX. I am a 2013 graduate of Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences. I am driven by a passion for serving others and professional development. I am honored to have been elected to this position. My hope is to help other PT/PTA students maximize their potential by going beyond rehabilitating their patients and serving them through our professional membership in the TSPTA, as it is important to make sure your voice is heard. By using this ability, we can make sure our patients are getting the maximum benefit and improve the future of physical therapy.

Daniel Millar - APTASA Core Ambassador

Hello! My name is Daniel Millar, and I am the new Core Ambassador for the TSPTA. I was born and raised in San Antonio, studied Sports Medicine at Rice University, and am currently a second year DPT student at the University of Texas at El Paso (GO MINERS!). I've been a runner since running cross country/track my freshman year of high school, but I am by no means "athletic" nor do I have any sense of hand-eye coordination (my roommates can attest to that). I checked "run a marathon" off my bucket list in January 2015, and I am about to run another half this coming February. I'm interested in specializing in pediatrics, specifically in working with families from underserved communities, as well as combining physical therapy with my passion for public health. I really look forward to representing Texas in the APTA Student Assembly and invite you to reach out to me for any ideas you may have/projects you're working on to help advance our profession.
