This course will expand on the Physical Therapists knowledge of the tissue healing, disease processes for various cancers and of the lymphatic system. This course will allow for the therapist to become a knowledgeable and active participant of the Oncology Team at his/her work facility.

III. Carcinogenesis: The Cancer Cell
IV. Tumor Classification and Staging
V. Primary Adverse Effects of Cancer and Cancer Treatment: Clinical Implications
VI. Candidates for Cancer Rehabilitation and Impact of Co-morbidities
VII. Lymphedema Therapy and Management with Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT)
VIII. Anatomy and Physiology of the Lymphatic System
IX. Primary and Secondary Lymphedema
X. Stages of Lymphedema
XI. The two phase Therapy for Lymphedema and Goal of Lymphedema Management
XII. Other Treatment Approaches

This course is approved for 1.0 CCUs through the Texas Physical Therapy Association's Accredited Provider status.
