This course is a 1 hour beginner-level introduction to pelvic floor anatomy, dysfunctions associated with the pelvic floor and common intervention strategies used in pelvic floor rehabilitation. There will be case studies and inclusion of current research to assist in content integration.

 

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, the learner will be able to:


1) Participants will gain a better understanding the history of pelvic health in physical therapy and statistics of diagnosis prevalence
2) Participants will gain a better understanding of anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, surrounding structures and visceral components
3) Participants will identify common dysfunctions of the pelvic floor, treatment strategies, and outcome measures and norms

4) Participants will identify current research available for pelvic health practices 

 

Speaker Bios

Cindy Boyer graduated in 2011 from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She completed courses specializing in pelvic health through the Herman and Wallace institute and currently treats with Healthlink at the Stone Oak location. She has a passion and respect for the field of “Pelvic Health” and its patients and employs hands-on manual therapy, exercise, biofeedback, and patient education to improve the outcomes and quality of life for patients.
