Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Barbara Sanders of Austin to the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for a term to expire Jan. 1, 2017. The board licenses and regulates the profession of physical therapy in Texas.
Sanders is a professor, chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and associate dean of the College of Health Professions at Texas State University. She is a licensed physical therapist, and a member of the American and Texas Physical Therapy associations and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. She is also vice president of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy, secretary of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools International Board of Trustees, and a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
Sanders received a bachelor's degree in physical therapy and a master's degree in education from The University of Kentucky, and a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
