Capital Area District

The Capital Area District (CAD) was organized in 1981 as a new district for Austin area Physical Therapists and Physical Therapists Assistants who were members of the Texas Physical Therapy Association. The CAD is one of thirteen districts in the state of Texas and includes twelve counties: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Fayette, Gillespie, Hays, Jackson, Lee, Llano, Mason, Travis, and Williamson.  This district includes the following zip codes: 78602 - 78766; 78942.

Thanks to all who attend the September 24 CAD Quarterly meeting to hear Kristin Barta, PT present “The Beat Goes On: Auditory Cues for Patient’s with Parkinson’s Disease.” Thank you, too, to Dr. Barta for her interesting and informative presentation and to our host locations: University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, Austin Community College-Eastview, and our new site: Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Kyle.

Open House at Willow Hall
We invite you to an Open House at Willow Hall on the Texas State University Round Rock Campus, Sunday, October 7th from 1-3pm. Join us and tour the public clinics, research labs and teaching labs.


The Capital Area District Quarterly meetings are via multi-site video format to better meet the needs of members spread across the greater Austin metropolitan area.

The four meeting sites are: 

  • University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, 5401 La Crosse Ave, Austin
  • Austin Community College, Eastview Campus, PTA Dept, 3401 Webberville Rd, Austin
  • South University Campus, 1220 West Louis Henna Blvd, Round Rock
  • Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Kyle, 5980 Kyle Parkway, Kyle

Each location will receive a broadcast of the latest district news along with a 1 hour CCU offering or special topic of interest to the district.  Primary locations will rotate through each site, with the others participating via video link as satellite locations.

Meetings follow a regular format of social time from 5:30-6:00 pm, business and special topic presentation from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm.

We are so excited about our special offering for our November 5 Meeting. Mary Elizabeth Parker, PT, will present: “Beyond the Diagnosis” a one-hour CC Presentation about Rare Diseases along with a special Art Exhibit sponsored by the Rare Disease United Foundation and U R Our Hope. Come and enjoy this special evening to enjoy the exhibit, see Texas State University Department of Physical Therapy’s new building on the Round Rock Campus, and enjoy networking and the continuing education with Dr. Parker.
