This hour-long lecture will review the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor, describe signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, and outline screening methods for the orthopedic, sports or neurologic physical therapist. 


At the conclusion of this program, the learner will be able to:

1. Understand the pelvic floor anatomy and role in lumbopelvic stability
2. Understand prevalence and risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction
3. Understand pathophysiology of pelvic health diagnosis relevant to patients in physical therapy
4. Identify signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction
5. Understand appropriate screening and evaluative methods in an orthopedic and sports medicine population 


Speaker Bios

Dr. Albina Heidebrecht, PT, DPT, WCS, CLT is a residency-trained, ABPTS board-certified women’s health specialist who specializes in the treatment of male and female pelvic floor dysfunction. She treats primarily for bowel, bladder and sexual dysfunction related to the pelvic floor, and has advanced training in oncology, lymphedema, osteoporosis, falls prevention and menopause.
