Power Development in the Clinical Setting: Tools, Exercises, and Programming for Power Other Than Olympic Lifting

This course is an exposition of power, its physiological and biomechanical nature and development via exercises and methodologies other than the classical Olympic movements and their common derivatives. Out of these origins, exercise selection, prescription and programming are detailed. The curriculum is relevant to clinicians with patients who require high rate of force development or who wish to include exercises which emphasize rate of force development in therapy sessions.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, the learner will be able to:

Biomechanically define power and explore the physiological variables which influence it
Explore methodologies and exercise prescription of power-based movements for lower quarter patients
Explore methodologies and exercise prescription of power-based movements for upper quarter and spine patients
Discuss programming and progressive overloading of power-based movements
