Attendance will help participants gain a better understanding of low back pain in the military, the physical demands placed on the tactical athlete, and how to prioritize strength and mobility interventions to best prepare tactical athletes for the high-level requirements of their jobs. This course will also challenge physical therapists to consider how they can work outside of the sagittal plane to achieve better outcomes for their patients.   


At the conclusion of this program, the learner will be able to:

1. Participants will understand the importance of knowing the physical requirements placed on tactical athletes 
2. Participants will be able to identify and prioritize strength and mobility requirements in multiple planes. 
3. Participants will become familiar with basic tenets of performing strengthening exercises in the transverse plane. 



LTC Scott Carow, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, SCS is a physical therapist and currently Chief of Rehab Services at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas. Dr. Carow earned his B.S. from U.S. Military Academy in 1997, DPT from Army-Baylor in 2006, DScPT from Baylor University in 2011. He is ABPTS board certified Orthopaedic Physical Therapist and Sports Physical Therapist.
