This course will describe the function of the APTA House of Delegates along with the current motions for 2014. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input on motions being considered this year. Texas delegates residing in the Southeastern District will be introduced and the individuals running for the national offices this year will be identified.

At the conclusion of this program the participant will:
1. Understand the functions of the APTA House of Delegates (HOD) and duties of the Texas delegates
2. Describe the roles and terms of the APTA officers within the House of Delegates, and the number of officers elected to office
3. Analyze current professional issues for the PT and PTA at state and national levels
4. Discuss selected motions for Bylaw amendments and Position Statements being considered by the 2014 APTA-HOD

Speaker Bio:
Betty MacNeill has been a physical therapist in Texas for 43 years, 39 of which were spent as a faculty  member at Texas Woman's University in Houston.  Although now retired from teaching, she has remained active in the physical therapy community by regularly attending Southeastern District meetings and working with individuals with Parkinson's disease via group exercise classes 4 times a week.  She was elected as the SED Delegate to the House of Delegates in 2012 and is currently serving her second year in this position.

This course has been approved for 1.0 CCUs for Texas PTs and PTAs.
