This course is designed to meet the Ethics education requirements for license renewal for PT and PTA's in the state of Texas. Dr. Stickley with present information in a classroom setting as well as use open discussion and case scenarios to apply the concepts learned in this course.


Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, the learner should be able to:

• Describe a theoretical basis for ethical decision-making

• Discuss the APTA’s Code of Ethics and Standards for Ethical Conduct for the PTA

• Apply legal standards of behavior including the Texas Practice Act and Rules

• Apply ethics and legal standards to hypothetical case scenarios


Speaker Bio:

Lois Stickley, PT, PhD is an Associate Professor at Texas State University. She was previously an Associate Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center serving as the Program Director for the transitional DPT Program and Associate Program Director for the Entry-Level DPT Program. Dr Stickley has been a member of the APTA and TPTA since 1980 and is currently the Speaker of the Assembly for the Texas Physical Therapy Association. She has served in many other capacities in the TPTA and APTA including Chief Delegate to the APTA House of Delegates, TPTA Membership Committee Co-Chair, and Panhandle District Chair. Dr. Stickley has spoken numerous times on the topics of ethics, leadership, and professional development.



Registration begins at 5:30 PM.


Course Fees:

PT/PTA Members:  $10.00

PT/PTA Non-members:  $20.00

Students:  $5.00



This course is approved for the 2.0 Ethics requirement for Texas PTs and PTAs.
