Basic ethics course for license renewal


At the completion of this course the learner should be able to:

  1. Discuss the basic concepts of ethics and apply those concepts to physical therapist practice.
  2. Utilize the APTA’s Code of Ethics and Guide to Professional Conduct in ethical decision making.
  3. Identify and interpret the legal standards of behavior for physical therapist practice.
  4. Apply and implement professional standards related to ethical cases within physical therapy practice.


Speaker Bio:


Martha A Sneary, PT, DPT, MS, is an Instructor and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) in the University of St. Augustine’s Austin DPT program. Dr. Sneary earned a BS in physical therapy from the University of Oklahoma in 1977, a Master of Science in Clinical Practice Management from Texas Tech in 2006, and a DPT from Hardin-Simmons University in 2009. Dr. Sneary has extensive experience in acute rehab, hospital, SNF, LTC, schools, ECI, home health and hospice as a physical therapy clinician, clinical instructor and department manager. She has worked in Denmark as well as multiple areas in the United States. Teaching experience includes diabetes education and back safety to general and patient population as well as academic Gerontology, Psychosocial and Ethical Aspects of Physical Therapy, Internship Preparation and Physical Therapist Practice. She has been a member of the APTA for 39 years and has served in the House of Delegates. She has served on the board of directors for the TPTA and is currently Chair of the Bylaws Committee”.



This course has been approved for 2.0 CCUs and meets the Ethics' requirement for license renewal.
