1. Define the female athlete triad, including the 2014 consensus statement, as well as IOC statement, and the impact it may have on both athletes and non-athletes.

2. Differentiate the roles of health care professionals that work with the female athlete, in managing those with the female athlete triad.

3. Describe effective screening techniques for the female athlete at risk for the triad, and interprofessional referral strategies to manage the athlete’s care.

4. Distinguish unique profession and discipline goals for different elements of the Female Athlete Triad in context of holistic interprofessional goals for care and patient outcomes.


Speaker Bio:

Amy Wagner, PT, DPT, GCS is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at University of the Incarnate Word. She has 14 years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, with most of them in geriatric settings such as skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, home health, outpatient clinics, and wellness/prevention. After receiving a BS in Math from UC Santa Barbara, she received an MPT and DPT from Azusa Pacific University. Practice and research interests include women’s health issues across the lifespan, Parkinson’s Disease, successful aging in place, wellness, physical activity in older adults, and fall prevention. She is secretary of the APTA Academy of Geriatrics Health and Wellness special interest group.
