Fear is a powerful adversary in rehabilitation, limiting progress, prolonging treatment and driving up healthcare costs. Identifying mental blocks can increase patients' awareness of their control and the role they play in healing their bodies, boosting participation and compliance with plan of care.


• Identify limiting beliefs and their impact on patient participation and success in therapy

• Integrate techniques that reduce anxiety and increase awareness of the mind-body connection in treatment

• Examine best practices for documentation and goal writing, addressing functional outcomes limited by fear

• Illustrate how and when to implement the Relaxation Response

• Describe the benefits and usage of Emotional Freedom Technique in relation to therapeutic activities and functional outcomes

• Assess functional outcomes limited by fear in documentation and goal writing.


Speaker Bio:

Ana Hernando, OTR, MOT, MBA

Ana Hernando has empowered patients to take ownership of their rehabilitation for over 15 years as an NBCOT certified Occupational Therapist and Sensory Learning Institute Sensory Specialist. She holds dual Master’s degrees and a B.S. inKinesiology. Mrs. Hernando also holds certifications in Reiki I and II, Psych-K,
Interactive Metronome, and Cooper’s Personal Trainer.  Former owner of Hope Pediatric Therapy & Learning, current owner of Elite Performance Therapy, she provides intensive therapy focusing on sensory modalities. Informed by her experience as Director of Rehab in skilled rehab and her vast patient experience in various settings, enable her to deliver a wealth of evidence-based solutions for the toughest obstacles you’ll face in the field.
