Pelvic Organ Prolapse 101 (CAD)

Function of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding structures play a key role in pelvic organ prolapse. In addition, posture, pressure management, trunk/lower body strengthening, and gravity dosing are all key elements to successful management of pelvic organ prolapse. All of these topics are relevant to the practice of Physical Therapy. 1 CCU 

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Explain the common causes of Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP);
2. Identify the different types of POP;
3. Detail the diagnostic criteria for POP;
4. Identify the prevalence and risk factors for POP;
5. Detail the life impact of POP;
6. Objectify the current treatment options available for POP.

Speaker(s)
Jeanice Mitchell, M.P.T. is a physical therapist with advanced training and certifications in women’s health, biofeedback, and pelvic health. She began specializing in this area of physical therapy after the birth of her son in 1999. She has seen the profound impact of pelvic floor PT on her own life as well as with countless patients over the years. She started myPFM.com (a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization) in 2018 with the goal of improving global pelvic health awareness and access to resources. The mission of myPFM is “Pelvic Health for All. Everyone. Everywhere. Every Language.” You can find fun, engaging pelvic health content and resources on her website, Instagram and YouTube channels.

CAD Quarterly Meetings and online CCU offerings are free for all but please consider supporting our district students with a donation for Student Scholarships. Suggested donation $10. Donation may be added on the registration page. Can't attend the meeting but still want to donate, click here.

CAD provides financial support to district PT/PTA students to attend professional meetings in order to enhance their education and leadership development. Studies show that students who attend a professional conference are more likely to stay involved in their professional organization once graduated.

You must register for the meeting. Registration is used in the attendance verification process. Registration closes at noon (CST) on 1/24/2022. In order to receive credit, you must be logged in for the full course and complete the course evaluation here. Credits will be issued no later than February 7, 2022. Please allow until then for processing. You will log in to the same account used for registering to retrieve your transcript.
