Understanding the anatomy, mechanics, and their implications for common hand and wrist diagnoses treated by physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants. This course will provide participants with basic joint assessment procedures for the wrist and hand to effectively restore motion and strength limitations related to the carpals, metacarpals and phalanges. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1.State why assessing body composition is clinically relevant;
2.Summarize the different method to assess body composition;
3.Differentiate validated methods versus not validated methods to assess body composition;
4.Describe why sophisticated methods to assess body composition are not necessarily better than clinical methods such as girths and skinfolds.

David Middaugh, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT received his DPT in 2011 from Texas State University - San Marcos. He completed his orthopedic residency and fellowship in manual therapy in 2015. He founded El Paso Manual Physical Therapy in 2014, a private-pay outpatient manual therapy clinic focused on helping El Pasoans avoid unnecessary surgery, injections and pain medications. He taught orthopedics at the University of Texas at El Paso in 2016-2017. He has trained numerous physical therapy students and fellows in the manual therapy specialty.

Fees
$0 for TPTA Members, $20 for Non-TPTA Members

CCUs are only issued to PTs and PTAs. In order to receive credit, you must be present for the full course and sign in and out at the time of the meeting. After the course complete the course evaluation here. Credits will be issued after verifying attendance and completion of evaluation no later than March 14, 2022. Please allow until then for processing. You will log in to your TPTA member account or the account used when completing the evaluation. Please wait until after that date to contact TPTA if your CCUs have not posted on your transcript. Instructions for retrieving will be emailed to you.

Cancellation Policy 
District members at-large will be emailed if course must be cancelled within 24 hours of district receiving information the course must be cancelled. No refunds provided as there is no cost to the course.
