This course will cover introductory material demonstrating manual techniques of the lower extremity. The focus will be on developing and incorporating manual techniques for the neuro physical therapist in the clinical setting. Topics include a review of anatomy, biomechanics, and a review of literature of manual therapy for the lower extremity in neurological settings. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1.Understand current literature addressing manual therapy in the neuro setting;
2.Recall basic biomechanics of the hip, knee, and ankle;
3.Evaluate joint mobility to identify patients to benefit from manual therapy;
4.Apply manual techniques to the hip, knee, and ankle safely to improve joint mobility and patient comfort;
5.Recognize “yellow flags” when applying techniques to ensure proper physiological response.

Speaker(s)
Pablo Estrada, DPT, OCS received his DPT in 2015 from the University of Texas at El Paso. He completed his orthopedic residency at the Harris Health System Ortho Physical Therapy Residency in Houston, Texas where he worked side-by-side with neuro specialists and neuro residents. Dr. Estrada is board certified in orthopedics and is the endurance specialist at EP Rehab Specialty Group, focusing on manual therapy and treatment techniques to avoid surgery and keep athletes out of waiting rooms. Dr. Estrada has presented at conferences, taught at multiple universities, and done extensive community outreach. Current interest includes turning all patients into athletes, the performing arts, endurance athletes, and VO2 max testing for all athletes.

You must pre-register for the CCU portion. Registration closes at 2pm on 4.28.22.

CCUs are only issued to PTs and PTAs. In order to receive credit, you must be present for the full course and sign in and out at the time of the meeting. After the course complete the course evaluation. Link to the evaluation in is your confirmation email. Credits will be issued after verifying attendance and completion of evaluation no later than May 15, 2022. Please allow until then for processing. You will log in to your TPTA member account or the account used when completing the evaluation. Please wait until after that date to contact TPTA if your CCUs have not posted on your transcript.
