This cognitive-motor based course will cover evidence based and safe treatment for neurologically affected patients. Dual-task training concepts can be applied to a variety of common neurological disorders like stroke and brain injuries to enhance motor function. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1.Understand the key differences between the 5 types of attention;
2.Understand the conceptual frameworks involved in attention training from a cognitive-motor perspective;
3.Understand assessment and treatment of attention from a cognitive-motor perspective;
4.Identify how to apply principles of dual-task training from a single or multidisciplinary approach

Jimmy Moody, PT, NCS, CBIST has over 15 years of experience as a clinician, educator and organizational leader. Mr. Moody graduated as a physical therapist in 2005 and received his Neurological Specialist certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) in 2011. He has served as a research fellow for a biomedical engineering research group, as adjunct faculty for a doctoral physical therapy program, and on the district executive committee for PT governmental affairs in Texas. He has presented to various healthcare disciplines at the local and state level on assessment and treatment of the neurologically involved person and continues to hold his professional membership with the APTA. Additionally, Mr. Moody has held his brain injury specialist certification since 2011 and became a trainer in 2016. He currently serves on the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists board of Governors, Texas Brain Injury Advisory Council, and Education Chair for the local chapter of the American Congress of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves as the CEO of PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital in El Paso, TX.

7:00 – 7:20 Intro/Foundational info, Neuroanatomy, Brain Functions of Attentional Networks
7:20 – 7:40 Application of Concepts of Dual-task Training (include 5 min demo)
7:40 – 8:00 Final review of considerations to apply Dual-task training for individual Multi-disciplinary approach. Conclude w/ Q&A Discussion

Course registrants will be notified via email within 24 hours if course must be cancelled. Further, course cancellation will be posted to the GEPD Facebook page ( provided in the event a course is cancelled.

You must pre-register for CCU event. Registration closes at 4pm on 6.23.22.

$0 for TPTA Members, $20 for Non-TPTA Members

CCUs are only issued to PTs and PTAs. In order to receive credit, you must be present for the full course and sign in and out at the time of the meeting. After the course complete the course evaluation. Link to the evaluation will be sent to you. Credits will be issued after verifying attendance and completion of evaluation no later than July 7, 2022. Please allow until then for processing. You will log in to your TPTA member account or the account used when completing the evaluation. Please wait until after that date to contact TPTA if your CCUs have not posted on your transcript. Instructions for retrieving will be emailed to you.
