Pharmacological Management of Common Medical Conditions (CAD)
Monday, November 14, 2022, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Category: District Meetings

PTs need a basic understanding of the indications, potential side effects, and therapeutic concerns of common medications that their patients are taking. This allows them to monitor for adverse effects, determine if evaluative findings are due to a musculoskeletal complaint or side effects of medications, and determine how to modify therapy based on the patient’s medications. 1 CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Consider the role of PTs in pharmacology;
2. Understand the basics of pharmacokinetics;
3. Learn the indications, side effects, and therapeutic concerns of some common medications for cardiopulmonary conditions, pain and inflammation, diabetes, and Parkinson’s disease;
4. Understand the potential role of meds in falls;
5. Collect resources and tools for assessing medications.
