Conquering Imposter Syndrome Through the Courageous Practice of Vulnerability (SED)
Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Category: District Meetings

Nearly all of us have felt like imposters at one time or another. For people with imposter syndrome however, self-doubt, insecurity, and perpetual trepidation that their inadequacies will be discovered is a way of being in workplace. Women and ethnic minorities are often the hardest hit because hierarchical and masculine cultures can contribute to imposter distress. This session will provide practical background on imposter syndrome and real-world applications of vulnerability. The speakers will facilitate peer-to-peer dialogue focused on navigating the challenges that we all experience of overcoming imposter syndrome. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Review current research regarding imposter syndrome, vulnerability and promotion of underrepresented groups in physical therapy;
2. Discuss unique challenges and barriers to the practice of vulnerability;
3. Recognize appropriate opportunities to embrace vulnerability;
4. Examine strategies to navigate imposter syndrome at different stages of career progression.
