General health and wellness of our patient population is definitely an aspect of our practice responsibility as it affects the success of our therapeutic interventions. A total patient health perspective has been demonstrated to affect patient outcomes. It is also an aspect of clinician health and life satisfaction. 1 CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1.Understand the adverse affects of stress on patient recovery and rehabilitation;
2.Understand the effects of poor sleep on patient recovery and outcomes;
3.Be able to incorporate patient education and training to reduce stress and poor sleep on the success and outcomes of therapeutic interventions;
4.The clinician will be able to demonstrate 4 square breathing to reduce stress personally and with their patients.

Laurayne Hurst, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, NBC-HWC has been an active member in the East Texas District for 48 years. She worked in Nacogdoches for over 44 years before retiring and moving to Cooper where she still practices with a focus on Health and Wellness. Laurayne has been an APTA member for over 48 years, the East Texas District Delegate for 4 years, and in various other positions of leadership at the District and State levels over the years.
