Goals of presentation will be to review constipation, discuss intervention techniques that all therapists can perform (especially when it presents as a secondary condition), and decide and educate on when a patient should be referred to a specialist. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the epidemiology, pathophysiology, prevalence and effects of constipation.
2. Screen and identify when constipation needs to be addressed in physical therapy patients.
3. Implement management techniques for constipation in general physical therapy practice, specifically when addressed in combination with another condition.
4. Identify when a patient should be referred to another healthcare professional including a pelvic health specialist.
