Telehealth During COVID-19 (SED)

During the unprecedented times of COVID-19 PTs, OTs, SLP who typically see patients in nursing homes, outpatient, home health have transitioned to telehealth. The goal of this panel is to educate therapists as to the current guidelines, how to create a successful telehealth visit for both the therapist and the patient, and also to provide pro-user tips on challenging items such as how to perform hands on evaluation components and treatment. 2CCUs 

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe what is telehealth/e-visit/telemedicine;
2. Understand the emergency guidelines to transition into telehealth during COVID;
3. Explain the process for their setting;
4. Identify the codes used in their setting;
5. Recognize which companies are reimbursing;
6. Determine what reimbursement looks like;
7. Understand if co-payments are the same as a regular outpatient visit;
8. Describe what a typical visit looks like;
9. Identify any pro-user tips on things to do or what to avoid;
10. Understand how to make a patient who is not tech savvy comfortable with a telehealth visit?.

Speaker(s)

Gail Zitterkopf, PT, DPT, CLT, CKTP is the pelvic health program manager at the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation-Memorial City Pelvic Health Center, where she has been since 2013. In addition, Gail currently serves as District Chair for the TPTA Southeastern District as well as the Speaker of the House for the TPTA. She has been very involved in TPTA for many years in various positions and also has been active with the APTA Section on Women's Health.

Nikki Shelton, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT serves as the Director of the Memorial Hermann Orthopedic and Sports Residency programs as well as the Spine Center. She previously was Clinical Manager for Memorial Herman Sports Medicine and Rehab-Bellaire. She serves as adjunct faculty for Texas Woman's University Houston since 2012.

Jennifer Frerich, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT is a clinic director for Results Physiotherapy in Katy, TX. She previously has served as adjunct faculty for Texas Woman's University Houston as well as faculty and mentor for OPTIM Manual Therapy Fellowship program. She is currently a member of TPTA House of Delegates and serves on the APTA ABPTRFE Residency and Fellowship Credentialing Committee.

Mark Milligan, PT, DPT, Cert TPS, Cert APHPT, OCS, FAAOMPT is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic manual therapist that specializes in the intelligent prevention and treatment of all human conditions. He is a full-time clinician and Founder of Revolution Human Physical Therapy and Education, a concierge physical therapy and micro-education company in Austin, Texas. In the fight to end the physical barrier to access healthcare, he founded Anywhere Healthcare, an all-inclusive telehealth platform. He is an active member of the TPTA, APTA, and AAOMPT and is the immediate past Capital Area District Chair for the Texas Physical Therapy Association and has great interest in public health, population health, and governmental affairs.
