Differential Diagnosis Balance Impaired Patients – Beyond Pathoanatomic Classification and Rhomberg (CAD)
Monday, September 14, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Category: District Meetings

Gait and balance impairments associated with injury, disease, and/or age-related changes affect nearly half of older adults and contribute to over $49 billion in healthcare costs annually. Physical Therapists are in a unique position to not only reverse impairments and minimize functional limitations in this patient population, but maximize community participation and quality of life in these individuals. 1CCU

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the interactions between body structure and function, activity, and participation factors with the domains that subserve postural control.
2. Discuss the current evidence pertaining to the assessment and treatment of functional limitations and participation restrictions associated with gait and balance impairments.
3. Discuss how patient reported outcomes and performance-based assessments can be tailored to guide patient-centered interventions for individuals a risk of falls.
