Linda John, PT, is a practicing physical therapist cont
racting to outpatient physical therapy clinics around the North Dallas area
. She has been an active member of APTA since 1997, being directly involved
in legislative advocacy for the past 19 years. She served as Government Af
fairs Chair and Federal Affairs Liaison for the Oklahoma Physical Therapy c
hapter, with efforts focused on attaining direct patient access, before mov
ing to North Texas in 2010. Linda presently serves as the PT-PAC Ambassador
and Federal Affairs Liaison for the Texas chapter of the APTA, and has mad
e numerous trips to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on the issues of Medicar
e Direct Access, Repeal of the Therapy Cap, and student loan reimbursement.
As a result of her efforts on the Hill and solidifying a strong, working r
elationship with leadership in the House Health Committees, Linda was prese
nted with the APTA Federal Government Affairs Leadership Award in 2018. Dur
ing her tenure in this arena, Linda has organized political fundraisers and
presented at state and district meetings to educate members about and enco
urage involvement in the legislative process as it relates to the physical
therapy profession.
