This course will help learners gain a better understanding of the role of the pelvic floor in other musculoskeletal impairments, identify possible signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, and be able to identify recognize when patients might benefit from pelvic floor rehabilitation in patient populations. 2CCUs

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
1.Define and identify pelvic floor musculature.
2.Discuss the impact of pelvic floor dysfunction on patients.
3.Identify several signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction.
4.Describe the clinical toolbox used by pelvic health physical therapists.
5.Simulate language to facilitate patient self-disclosure and to encourage consultation with the pelvic health physical therapist.

6:00-6:30 pm Introduction to the pelvic floor musculature: identification, roles, responsibilities
6:30-7:00 pm Signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction and the implications for the physical therapist
7:00-7:15 pm How to explain pelvic floor physical therapy to the general population and patients
7:15-7:40 pm Case study with discussion
7:40-8:00 pm Question and Answer
