Bring awareness to the ETD community of current and potential CI’s regarding PTA clinical education updates and clarifications. 1CCU 

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the sections of the PTA MACS and understand the purpose/role of each;
2. Identify common misconceptions of skills grading, and summarize the process to clarify questions;
3. Compare/contrast previous rating scale with updated rating scale, revised in 2018 and implemented in 2019.

Speaker(s)
Shaunda Kwiatek, PT, DPT is Director of Clinical Education at Kilgore College, and 2019 Tom Waugh mentee for East Texas District of TPTA. Shaunda received her undergraduate education at Texas A&M University, College Station, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy with the inaugural class of 2020 at Texas Woman’s University, Dallas. She started as a Physical Therapist in Longview at CORE, then transitioned to Tyler with New Dimensions Rehabilitation working outpatient and acute in each location. Shaunda also spent some time working prn for local clinics in settings including outpatient, home health, long term acute care, skilled nursing, and pediatrics. Throughout her eight-year clinical career, Shaunda mentored or was a CI for nearly 20 students prior to accepting the DCE position at Kilgore College.
