I'm Burnt Out. Now What Do I Do? (SED)

Last year in March 2021, this speaker presented on "Addressing Burnout in Healthcare Providers". This course will be Part 2 on the topic of burnout. This course is relevant to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students to help further awareness regarding burnout in the profession, provide education on actions to combat or prevent burnout, and provide education on ways to improve wellness. 1CCU 

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Briefly review burnout background information (history, definition, contributing factors;
2. Describe actions that can be taken to combat/prevent burnout at the individual level, organization level, and society level; and
3. Discuss the Six Dimensions of Wellness.

Speaker(s)
Allison Smith PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and minor in psychology in 2011 from Purdue University, where she was also a NCAA Division I swimmer. She attended Washington University in St. Louis and graduated with her doctor of physical therapy degree in 2014. Following PT school she was accepted into the Harris Health System orthopedic physical therapy residency program, which she completed in 2015. Allie became board certified as an orthopedic clinical specialist in 2016. In 2017 she completed the OPTIM manual therapy fellowship and became a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She was awarded with Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award in 2017. Allie has previously served locally for the Southeastern District of the Texas Physical Therapy Association as the Governmental Affairs Chair and nationally representing Texas as a delegate in the House of Delegates. She continues to be a clinical instructor and mentor at Harris Health System and is involved in the orthopedic residency program. She also assists with the orthopedics module for the neurologic residency. She previously was adjunct faculty with Texas Woman's University from 2018-2020. Allie completed her PhD studies this year (2021) through Texas Woman’s University with a dissertation on Burnout and Well-Being in Physical Therapist Students.
